another beautiful mom-to-be | grand junction pregnancy photographer

I love maternity sessions. Pregnancy is so beautiful. When I get a call to photograph an expectant mother, I think I get just as excited as the new parents waiting for their new bundle of joy. Well…maybe not, but I really enjoy that before baby time. This Grand Junction momma didn’t know it, but she was entering that early labor stage the day we took her maternity photos. She thought she was just tired and maybe over doing things a bit. This was her first pregnancy so she wasn’t familiar with those tell tale signs of impending labor. She delivered her baby girl just a few days later, several weeks early and only a few minutes after she had updated her employers facebook page.  I’m sure she confused many with that one. She assumed we had plenty of time for pregnancy photos. She was so thankful that I was able to sneak her in between other sessions.  We almost missed it.

news and events | grand junction photographer

I updated the facebook fan page last week but I completely forgot to post here. Mini sessions will be taking place at Kairos on Thursday, July 22, 2010. I’m SO excited to shoot in Carla’s new space. I popped in there last night right before Farmers Market and it looks FABULOUS!! She was buzzing with a nice mix of Grand Junction’s regulars peeking in on her new diggs and new people that hadn’t known she was ever just around the corner. I think the response was a bit overwhelming. Carla was glowing like a new mom gazing at her brand new baby.  Main Street will be good for her.

Back to Mini’s…it doesn’t take much to sidetrack me these days.

Main Street Mini's with Cristine Strickland
In celebration of the big move of Kairos Children’s Boutique, Cristine Strickland Photography will be hosting a day of mini sessions. Sessions will take place on Thursday, July 22th at Kiaros Children’s Boutique located at 533 Main Street, Grand Junction, Colorado. As with previous mini sessions, there will be no sitting fee. Each session will last approximately 20 to 30 minutes and will result in at least eight characteristic images. The mini-portrait events are a great way to sample Cristine’s work or to get a few updated images between full sessions. There is no minimum purchase and your satisfaction is entirely guaranteed. Space is limited. Call Cristine today to reserve your appointment at 970-208-7139.

Also, that week there will be a drawing for a free session for one lucky family. All you’ll need to do is go into Kairos between July 19th through the 24th and sign up for my mailing list. At the end of the week we’ll pick a winner. The winner will receive a complementary on-location session within the Grand Valley area (Grand Junction, Fruita, Palisade) and a complementary 16×20 wall portrait. Easy peasy!

I’m sure now that the first phase of the Main Street Uplift project is complete and that Farmers’ Market is in full swing, many of you have wandered down Main Street recently. Maybe you noticed that some of the stores have moved on or changed locations opening up some prime Main Street real estate. In your wanderings, did you happen to notice this??

Kairos Children's Boutique, new location at 533 Main Street, Grand junction CO 81501

Yeah, Kairos is MOVING!!! I adore Carla. Absolutely adore her. We started our business at about the same time and found each other shortly after. We’ve sat around that little kids table she has in the middle of her store and laughed and cried together over many of life’s triumphs and trials over the perfect cup of coffee many, many times since. Kairos has been open at the 129 South 6th Street location for almost four years and Carla has completely rocked that tiny little store. She’s always got it crammed full of just the right things, some of which you can’t find anywhere else in Grand Junction. But you all have spoke and she’s listening. You want MORE!!! When Cookies by Design closed their doors, Carla took the opportunity to move into the empty store right on Main Street. Right now, her dear husband is busy building shelves and putting in new floors so Carla can add her perfect quaint little touches in anticipation of the big move to 533 Main Street. The new store is scheduled for a July 1, 2010 opening and I can’t wait. Until then you can still find her at the old location behind Main Street Bagels.

Kairos Children's Boutique is moving July 1, 2010 to 533 Main Street, Grand Junction, Colorado.

Stay tuned. Carla’s planning a month long celebration featuring many of the local vendors. She’s a huge fan of supporting the community. My part…mini sessions. I haven’t done them in a long time so if you’ve been waiting, make sure you get on the schedule. I’m sure they will book fast. More on that in a day or two. I’ll dial in the details and fill you all in with it’s own post.
